Summary:
As the people in Libya await the capture of Moammar Gadhafi, the rebels have taken control of most of the cites. Mustafa Abdel Jalil, the National Transitional Council Chairman, will now have to step up and govern. He was Gadhafi's judge and lawyer, so that is all he knows how to do, he now has much more to learn about running a country. Jalil, thinking about making a unitary state, talks to its neighboring states Egypt and Tunisia about the riches in Libya, oil. some people think that the U.S. and NATO new of this. Libya will not only have to wise about their decisions but their friends, or allies, will also have to be supportive in creating a new regime. In creating the new regime, reduction of Gadhafi and his kin is a must. If Libya remains chaotic, it gives dictatorships a higher power which means they have power to remain.
Commentary:
This article made me think about how powerful dictators are. When they are on top they really have all of the power and bringing them down is really tough. Once they are down thinking of what to do next can be difficult. For example, the kind of government that will be creating, whether they want to keep the dictatorship or become a unitary state. I think that leaving the idea of a dictatorship behind will benefit the people.
